Dear Iaidoka,

Congratulations to all of you who passed your gradings at the NSW Iaido Gradings held at our West Pymble Dojo on Sunday. It was very well done indeed.

Overall the standard was good with some borderline cases, and a few outstandingly good performances. In particular from our club, Lusita and Peter who were singled out by the judges for commendation and Eddie, whose audible sigh of relief when he finished his ikkyu test, got quite a few smiles.

For Lyma, Lusita and Eddie having achieved your ikkyu puts you into contention for Shodan at the National Championships in January. This means a whole different style of Iaido which you will all have to work on so as to succeed in this grading.

I have attached a link to the Queensland site so we can all keep updated and make our plans accordingly.
http://iaidojodo2008.googlepages.com/home It is still under construction but the information is being updated daily.

This Friday we are going to celebrate after training, so if you like bring something along. I'll bring the tea etc.. and we can also discuss the January trip and see if we can get some idea about who is able to attend.

Once again Congratulations

Cheers
Ruth

Training & Grading

Firstly, a thank you to Lyma for organising this ‘blog’ it will be a great way to communicate now that I ‘ve become ‘blog literate’.

Secondly, I would just like to thank those who were able to come to our inaugural training session last Friday night. We had a very productive session specifically practicing for the next grading and also targeting some sword work in focusing on a strong, accurate kirioroshi.

Whilst it seemed strangely quiet for all of us who were used to the dooff , dooff, dooff , whirring of fans and other assorted cacophony that always attended our training at Macquarie Uni we all settled in pretty fast.

A belated welcome to Charles and a welcome also to Mark and Maesie who joined us for the first time last night.

We ended the night with hot Japanese green tea and Japanese treats which we will continue to do on the Friday night before the first Saturday of each month. I will post a calendar as soon as I get the dates from the council.

NSW Iaido Gradings will be held at this hall, Sunday 15th July. 1pm – 4pm. The address is
West Pymble War Memorial Community Hall
Lofberg Street
West Pymble

The hall is accessible from both Yanco Road and Lane Cove Road (Mona Vale Road) there will be a $5.00 dojo charge for all participant just to cover the hire of the hall.
